Introducing

Joana Vasconcelos

"It is a tremendous privilege to represent Pangea in the Great Elephant Migration. The natural world is a source of inspiration for artists like myself and we have a duty to do all we can to promote a peaceful coexistence with nature, especially considering the challenges of our time. Elephants are one of the most majestic and sentient animals on earth that deserve our respect. It is wonderful that Pangea has chosen Portugal to establish their groundbreaking initiative.”

Joana Vasconcelos is a Portuguese artist internationally renowned for her enormous hand-crafted sculptures and has collaborated with the likes of Dior and Roche Bobois.  Her foundation supports social and cultural initiatives in Portugal and she is passionate about protecting the environment.

She is an Ambassador for the Pangea Trust, an organization supported by The Great Elephant Migration, that is establishing Europe’s first large-scale elephant sanctuary and nature reserve in Alentejo, Portugal.
