Alex is the founding Chair of the IUCN Human–Wildlife Conflict & Coexistence Specialist Group and Associate Professor at the University of Oxford. As a global leader in conservation conflict resolution, she has worked on coexistence challenges across the world for over 25 years, focusing on dialogue and community-led solutions. She authored the book Negotiating Coexistence, has trained hundreds of conservation professionals, and regularly advises governments, NGOs, the UN, World Bank, commissions and foundations on human-wildlife coexistence. Her work has also played a key role in shaping international policy on coexistence, including the UN Global Biodiversity Framework.
