Introducing

Anne Deane

“I am honored to be a Matriarch for The Great Elephant Migration – a project that embodies compassionate coexistence rooted in reciprocity between all human and non-human life. The migrating elephants serve as a powerful reminder that our planet thrives when all species share space and respect one another. Freyja Foundation's mission to protect the natural world and empower local communities aligns perfectly with this initiative: by learning from the indigenous and local communities who have lived alongside wildlife for generations, we can move towards a future of connection and understanding, where humans and wildlife thrive alongside each other.”

Anne Deane is the President of Freyja Foundation, a private, charitable organization dedicated to developing and supporting innovative, scalable, and lasting conservation solutions that protect wild places and combat the climate crisis. Freyja’s work focuses on protecting existing at-threat carbon sinks, re-establishing biodiversity, and empowering local communities. In her role as President, Anne integrates climate and sustainable values into the foundation’s endowed investment portfolio and philanthropic initiatives. Freyja Foundation was born in 2017 when Anne refocused her family’s philanthropic capital on large-scale land and ocean conservation. Prior to Freyja, Anne founded and ran ÖHLIN/D, a successful sustainable fashion brand in New York City. Originally from Boston, Massachusetts, Anne graduated from Duke University in 2011 with a major in Creative Writing and a concentration in Political Science.
