Introducing
Sherry Cross Child
Supporting the migration for INDIGENOUS LED, Sherry chose the name Na'aa for her elephant twin. She explains why:
“Na’aa” is the name I chose for my elephant. The Blackfoot interpretation for Na’aa is My Mother and Matriarch. In the Blackfoot ‘way of life’ Na’aa is strong in her faith; strong in her prayer; strong in her belief system; the protector; the leader of her family and the main person the family relies on for comfort, reassurance, protection, and survival. Na’aa is the person that keeps her family together.
Na’aa prays for long life, survival, free from sickness and pain. Na’aa always prays for her family to enter the after life to be greeted gracefully by those who have gone before her family. Upon her prayer Na’aa also calls upon her family that have gone before her to comeback and help her family endure life’s challenges."
